The Williamsburg Inn®

Crown Jewel of the Colonial Williamsburg Hotels

Royal Guests

Colonial Williamsburg is honored that the Williamsburg Inn was the choice for overnight accommodations for the May 2007 visit of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, to the Historic Triangle for the 400th anniversary of the first permanent English settlement at Jamestown. The overnight stay at the Williamsburg Inn is the second for Queen Elizabeth. Because she occupied another set of rooms during her 1957 visit for the 350th anniversary, the Williamsburg Inn now features two Royal suites.

Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

Regarded among the world's great hotels, the Williamsburg Inn in Williamsburg, Virginia, is the crown jewel of Colonial Williamsburg Hotels. The Inn pampers each guest with royal treatment. For many, it is a destination in itself. Gourmet dining, an outdoor pool, clay tennis courts, award-winning golf, and a fitness club complete with spa services create a memorable resort experience. Enjoy afternoon tea by the fire, or try your hand at lawn bowling or croquet. The Williamsburg Inn hotel, renovated in 2001, is decorated in an elegant English Regency style and offers 62 rooms and suites in the main building. Additional rooms are available in nearby Providence Hall.

Historic Renovation Prepares Inn for New Era…

Following a year-long renovation, the Williamsburg Inn reopened to the public in late 2001. The careful renovation of the Inn encompassed every aspect of its interior - the original furniture designed specially for this famous hotel has been refinished and reupholstered, chandeliers brilliantly refurbished, a new tearoom and bar lounge have been incorporated into the first floor, along with modest alterations to the Regency Dining Room. Guestrooms have been significantly enlarged to include elaborate baths. The famous facade of the Williamsburg Inn hotel has not changed as inside the renovations span three centuries of style: 19th-century Regency decor, the 20th-century heritage of the original building, and 21st-century amenities. It surely reflects what Rockefeller envisioned: a historic country inn with the most modern, gracious appointments.
