Golden Horseshoe Golf Club Green Course Marks 25th Anniversary with $25 Public Play for Area Residents

Offer for Hampton Roads and area residents begins Aug. 22; culminates with 25th Anniversary Community Golf Event Aug. 26

Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club Green Course celebrates its silver anniversary by opening to the public for $25 rounds during its 25th Anniversary Community Week starting Aug. 22 and culminating in a 25th Anniversary Community Golf Event Friday, Aug. 26.

This opportunity to play the award-winning course designed by Rees Jones, son of golf legend and Golden Horseshoe Gold Course designer Robert Trent Jones Sr., is open to residents of Williamsburg, Chesapeake, Hampton, New Kent, Newport News, Norfolk, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Virginia Beach along with their neighbors from Gloucester, Isle of Wight, James City, Surry and York counties.

“The Green Course is a contemporary treasure that has hosted three USGA national championships, and players from across the region are sure to enjoy its beauty and challenging play,” said Glen Byrnes, Colonial Williamsburg director of golf and recreation and PGA professional. “This celebration is the perfect chance for locals who have wanted to experience the Golden Horseshoe and its hospitality to seize the opportunity.”

Available Aug. 22-25 for $25/person:

• One round of 18 holes on the Green Course
• Golf cart
• Range balls
• $5 off food at the Green Course Clubhouse Grill
• Complimentary 25th anniversary ginger cake

The 25th Anniversary Community Golf Event begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Aug. 26 for $25/person and includes:

• One round of 18 holes on the Green Course
• Golf cart
• Range balls
• Personalized bag tag
• Prizes for closest to the pin
• A chance to win a car for a hole-in-one
• Raffle prizes
• $5 off food at the Green Course Clubhouse Grill
• Complimentary 25th anniversary ginger cake
• Extended happy hour 1-6 p.m. that day at the Green Course Clubhouse Grill

Registration and tee times are available by calling 757-220-7696. Proof of residency is required and availability is limited. Tee times Aug. 22-25 are available after 10 a.m. and may be reserved up to five days in advance. Food discount must be applied day of play with a minimum $10 food purchase and excludes alcohol.
