Attorney Mark Hileman Named the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s General Counsel

Veteran attorney Mark Hileman will join Colonial Williamsburg as general counsel June 20, President and CEO Mitchell B. Reiss announced Thursday.

Hileman comes to Colonial Williamsburg from Boston Globe Media Partners LLC, where he has served as general counsel since 2013, when the organization separated from The New York Times Company.

“Mark brings a wealth of legal experience to Colonial Williamsburg, including his most recent work for the esteemed Boston Globe, where he built the organization’s legal support function from the ground up,” Reiss said. “He will provide critical guidance and insight as we continue the Foundation’s transformation and ensure its continued success.”

Previously Hileman was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of McGuireWoods, LLP and senior vice president and deputy general counsel for AOL Inc.

Hileman earned his Bachelor of Arts in American government and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia.
